Sculpting for advanced students I
Theme: "Dialogue"
Two stone sculptures which are to be in dialogue with each other and mutually dependent. Their relationship is formal, whether as a unity in duality, or as a deliberate contrast. This will be our focus throughout the two weeks.
As a starting point we have a choice of working with two ready available, same sized stone prisms measuring 20 x 20 x 40 cm, or we can look for two small boulders in the river, or select two blocks from the school’s own stock.
After the stones have been selected we begin by creating small clay or plasticine models to a scale of 1:10. We spend as much time on this task as is necessary. Then we proceed to carve the stones. All these creative activities will be carried out on site. Please do not bring along any models.
