Freelance sculptor with own workshop. Tutor at the Scuola di Scultura since 1999.
Hans-Peter Profunser, born in 1956 in Lienz, lives and works in Berg im Drautal, Austria. After training as a mechanical engineer at the Austrian Drava power plants, he gradually shifted his focus to art starting in 1981. He began sculpting as a self-taught artist, with key influences including his training with Professor Zenzmaier, ongoing exchanges with him, and participation in numerous international symposia in countries such as Austria, Germany, Italy, Japan, Hungary, and Croatia.
Profunser's artistic development has been shaped by the works of Alberto Giacometti, Giacomo Manzù, and Alfred Hrdlicka.
He draws inspiration from the Alpine landscapes of his childhood, personal experiences, and sporting activities like mountaineering, hang gliding, and mountain running—all of which resonate in his sculptural language.
His works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, art fairs, and galleries across Austria, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Croatia, Hungary, and Liechtenstein.
