Hubert Bienek

Born in 1954, Hubert Bienek lives and works today as a sculptor in Langenthal, Switzerland. After completing a degree in the natural sciences and spending extended periods abroad, he studied art therapy, art education, and fine arts at the University of Applied Sciences in Ottersberg (Germany), with a focus on human anatomy. He later obtained a Master of Advanced Studies in Nonprofit Management from the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland.

Since the 1980s, Hubert Bienek has worked in numerous educational, therapeutic, and social settings – including with creatively challenging young people, in penal and correctional institutions, and in the development of innovative employment and education projects. Among other roles, he directed the art therapy studio at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department in Solothurn (2004–2019), and contributed to several foundations, including as co-founder of the Fintan Foundation in Rheinau and of "unternehmen mitte" in Basel.
He has also been active in international child aid projects, including in Kosovo and Iraq, and co-authored the professional book "Gutes besser tun – Corporate Governance in Non-Profit-Organisationen" (Haupt Verlag, 2004).
His interests range from artistic creation to interdisciplinary creativity research, as well as alpine hiking and Kyudo (Japanese archery).
