Martin Roedel

Artist, plastic artist & sculptor, born 1975 in Leipzig. Graduated from the University of Art and Design, Burg Giebichenstein Halle (Saale).

Since 2022 he is teaching at the Scuola di Scultura in Peccia.

Since graduating in 2006, Martin Roedel has been working as a freelance artist, plastic artist and sculptor. His first five reliefs, contemporary reliefs on the arcades of the Stadtgottesackers Halle, were awarded the Peter Parler Prize of the German Foundation for Monument Protection in 2015. In 2014-2017 he carried out freelance work in plastic design at the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art. The individual projects of the students expanded the didactic experiences in the three-dimensional fundamentals.

In 2020 he received a “Chiral Fruits” study leave grant from the Cultural Foundation of the Freistaat Sachsen.

Independent study trips and stays in Europe, North Africa and South-East Asia positively influenced perspectives and points of view.

 

Prizes:

2015 Peter Parler Prize; awarded by the German Foundation for Monument Protection for contemporary reliefs on the arcades of the Stadtgottesackers Halle.

2013 Peter Parler Creative Prize; from the Federal Association of German Stonemasons and awarded by the German Foundation for Monument Protection for the production of Gargoyles at Magdeburg Cathedral; with K. Thümmel and M. Golter.
