This course is about experimenting, playing, and exploring the variety of forms that can be created in sculpture. We will work mainly with materials offered to us by nature, such as plaster, clay, wood, stone, plants, and others. We gladly allow chance to play a part in our search for form. Failed attempts will be recycled or returned to nature.
At the beginning, various methods of playful creation will be introduced. Among other things, we will become familiar with the polychrome stucco marble technique and apply it ourselves in a simplified form. As the week progresses, we will work according to our own individual preferences. The “results” may be independent works in plaster, clay, or fired clay, or they may serve as models for stone sculptures or bronze casts. Installations or Land Art projects may also emerge.
Anyone who would like to begin with their own project is free to proceed as they wish. In general, however, the emphasis is primarily on experimentation. For classical figurative modelling using the plaster build-up technique, the course "Plaster – Figurative" is more suitable.
This course is suitable for both beginners and advanced participants!
