In the advanced sculpture courses, a central design theme takes centre stage. This course invites you to explore Time as an artistic principle.
Stone – formed over millions of years – stands in stark contrast to the fast pace of our times. It demands time and dedication. At the beginning, there is a vague idea. Then a plan begins to take shape. We have two weeks to bring it to life.
As we work with the stone, we remain attentive to spontaneous possibilities, give space to chance, and enter a sense of timelessness. Chronos, Kairos, and Aion – time becomes visible, directly or indirectly, in our stone sculptures.
In addition to technical guidance in developing and realising individual ideas, we will also reflect on personal perceptions of time and ways of expressing it. Examples from art history will provide inspiration and impulses.
Prerequisite for the course: Good stone sculpting skills (must have completed an introductory as well as a basic skills course) and a love for three-dimensional form.
The course language is German, but the tutor also speaks English.
